The view from the summit of Mount Marcy is spectacular, with the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks laid out all around you. The haze is a bit of leftover smoke from forest fires burning farther north, in Quebec. Fortunately, most of that had blown off the day we were up on Mount Marcy. A few days before, it had eliminated any chance of a panoramic view from the New Jersey highpoint. The plaque at the bottom of this pan is mounted in a vertical face of the summit block a few yards from the actual summit.
