There are several sections to this page, each dealing with a different facet of my varied interests. The photograph above, which, in an abstracted form, is used for the background on several of these pages, represents a recently-fulfilled goal of mine, namely climbing my eponymous peak in the eastern Sierra Nevada range in California. For more details about "my" mountain and an enlarged copy of the photo, click on the image. Click here to read more about the fourteen year, seven attempt oddessy which finally culminated in a successful ascent in July, 1999. |
Another long-term goal is to reach as many as possible of the geographic highpoints of the 50 states. The first link below shows a table of the highpoints with some information about each, plus links to photos and reports on reaching various ones. |
In addition to heading "up", I also like to explore "down"...that is, under the sea. To date, I have logged in excess of 150 dives in the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. The photo below is from a trip to Saipan and Palau. Click on the shark for more photos and descriptions as they become available. |
When not under water, I can often be found under the hood...of my 1986 Fiero SE. Click on the Fiero logo below for more details. |
In addition to mountain and SCUBA travel, I have been known to visit other locales for various reasons. Sometimes, even business trips provide opportunities, such as the day trip I made to Chamonix, France, during a business trip last fall to Geneva, Switzerland. This excursion provided an opportunity to see Mont Blanc from a tourist's perspective, an incentive to go back someday and climb it. |
Home base for all of these activities is just west of St. Louis, Missouri. St. Louis is known for its variable weather...10° below zero in winter (-23° C), and upwards of 100° above in the summer (+38° C). Current conditions are reflected in the image below. Click on it for a detailed five-day forecast to see what sort of meterological fate is befalling me at the moment. |
